Mr. Yuqiao Li is a Doctoral Candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sebastian Bersick in the Department of International Political Economy of East Asia (IPEEA) within the Faculty of East Asian Studies at Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB). He was awarded a scholarship by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) from 2020 to 2023.

Mr. Li possesses a Master of Arts degree in East Asian Politics from Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany and a Bachelor of Management degree in Administrative Management from the University of Science and Technology Beijing in China. In his master’s thesis, he analysed China’s foreign policy and its shaping process in the Iran nuclear negotiation until 2015. Currently, his Ph.D. research focuses on China’s foreign policy vis-à-vis the European Union.

For the past three years, Mr. Li co-lectured with Mrs. Mireia Paulo a master-level seminar at the M.A. IPEEA programme entitled “Current Political and Economic Issues in China: Insights from Chinese Media.” This advanced Chinese language course immerses students in the study of China’s economy, international relations, and society through the lens of Chinese media. Throughout the course, students engage with articles, news, and academic journals, then foster in-depth discussions on current affairs based on Chinese sources. The course culminates in students’ presentations, delivered in Chinese, on topics of their choice related to China.

Since October 2023, Mr. Li has been teaching Chinese at the Otto-Pankok-Schule grammar school in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. He collaborates with Mrs. Kerstin Hahn and Mr. Wenhe Wang on the elective course “China AG,” designed for students interested in Chinese language and culture. In this course, students learn Chinese pronunciation, basic vocabulary and sentences, various aspects of Chinese culture, and gain a knowledge of modern China.

Mr. Li interned at Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University in Beijing, China, from October 2019 to January 2020. His internship focused on the Belt and Road Initiative and its impact on the relationship among the European Union, Central and Eastern European countries, and China. In addition to his teaching and academic duties, Mr. Li has been working as a consultant for Prolinx GmbH, a German consulting firm, since 2023, providing European Authorised Representative service and compliance services to Chinese medical device manufacturers and assisting them to legally export to Europe.
